Another podium in Scandinavia as Cervélo Bigla races to third place
The Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team continued its successful run of results in the Ladies Tour of Norway team time trial on Thursday. The team crossed the line in third place, following the two previous podium places in Sweden in recent days.
New to the UCI World Tour calendar this year, the race was 24,3 kilometres from Aremark to Fredriksten Fortress. Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team blazed the course in 31 minutes and 2 seconds.
“We have a young team here and they proved me right and rewarded us with three podiums,” team manager, Thomas Campana said. “It’s outstanding from this group. They are consistently within the best three teams in the world, that makes me very proud.”
When asked what made the difference today, Campana said, “The biggest problem was we only had one day of training between Monday’s race in Sweden and today. Normally we like knowing every detail of the course but at least we got to train on it once. It’s a beautiful course. It looked easy but the gusty winds made a big difference. It made the race hard and that’s why we could perform so well with two climbers in our group today. It was a seconds game which made it very tight. We saw a strong Mitchelton Scott and a strong Sunweb but Cervélo Bigla was there one more time.”
Today’s race brings to a close the Scandinavian race program where the team completed the team time trial and road race in Postnord Vårgårda West Sweden in third place. The team will next line up in GP de Plouay-Bretagne on 25 August.
