Bigla pulls through hectic seventh stage of the Giro Rosa
The seventh stage of the Giro Rosa took the riders from Cornedo Vicentino to San Giorgio di Perlena, where an uphill finish awaited the peloton after 128.3km of racing. Four climbs had to be taken on, firstly the Monte di Malo after 34km in the saddle, followed by the Fara Vicentino after 72km, the Marostca after 102km and lastly, the final ascent to Giorgio di Perlena. Although there were a series of breakaway attempts during the race, the peloton was quick to reel the escapees in. It was not until about 10km to go that a group of riders was able to get away and in the end fight for the stage win, which was taken out by Marianne Vos. Despite a good effort on this rather demanding course, Bigla missed out on a top-10 placing.
