Final stage in Elsy Jacobs sees Lepistö sprint to second

Auf der letzten Etappe in Elsy Jacobs sprintet Lepistö auf den zweiten Platz

Lotta Lepistö went better than her eighth place on the previous day to sprint to second on the final stage of Festival Elsy Jacobs.

The race concluded with a bunch sprint but not before Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio animated the stage. The South African put in an attack with 35 kilometres to go which saw four riders joining her.

As their advantage decreased, Moolman-Pasio went on the offensive once more and led the race solo until 10 kilometres to go.

We started with only 3 today because Cille is sick but again it showed the character of the team. Even when we’re down on numbers we were a complete unit. Ashleigh and Nicole [Hanselmann] really gave their all. Ashleigh put in this super super strong attack. Unfortunately the group behind her was very big and they worked well together. They caught her in the last 10km. I tried to hold on for the sprint as the speed was high in the final. I opened up my sprint a little too early with 350m to go and the winner could come around my wheel in the end. We will leave the race with many good signs as we work towards more of our goals this year. We are going from strength to strength.”

Following Lepistö’s result, Moolman-Pasio was also on the podium as the most aggressive rider. The race ends on a successful note, much like it started when Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig started off with third place in the prologue. The Luxembourg race sees the end of the spring campaign. The team will now focus its goals towards the middle of the season.
