How CeramicSpeed powers Cervélo Bigla to success
When the Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team amazingly won the bronze medal at the recent UCI Road World Championships in the team time trial, the team from CeramicSpeed was waiting on the finish line, offering their support.
CeramicSpeed has been one of the leading manufacturers of high-performance bearings for the cycling industry since 2000 when the founder of CeramicSpeed, Jacob Csizmadia, introduced ceramic bearings for use in cycling disciplines.
The Danish company provides Cervélo Bigla with its full line of products. During the championships in Norway, the team used CeramicSpeed Bottom Brackets, Pulley Wheels, Headsets, Wheelkits, OSPW Systems, UFO Chains and also used the latest product, the UFO Drip.
Supplying products is not enough to complete the partnership says Sports Marketing Manager, Veit Hammer. “We also visit the team several times during the season to not only show our support but also to make sure they have everything they need from our side. That’s why we were in Norway, right in the middle of all the action.”
The company is passionate about offering athletes the best technology to help them succeed. “CeramicSpeed products help the athletes save energy, which in return will help them increase their performance. With a full CeramicSpeed upgraded drive train like Cervélo Bigla uses, an athlete can save up to 16 Watts,” Hammer said.
“The women's TTT and TT efforts were great to witness. In the TTT they might have ended in the same position as last year but what's remarkable is they managed to get closer to the rainbow jersey – much closer than a year ago. It's also great to see that this was achieved with a young and talented team.”
Following the TTT, the CeramicSpeed team stayed to support the riders in the individual time trial as they represented their respective countries. “The TT in Bergen was a star-struck field on a demanding course, which wasn't quite as hard as the men's course due to not featuring the final climb. That one would have for sure suited a rider like Ashleigh [Moolman-Pasio]. However, to see Cecilie [Uttrup Ludwig] and Ashleigh finishing inside the top 10 was great.”
CeramicSpeed as a company was founded in 2004 to meet the growing demand for high-performance ceramic bearings. The company does not take a compromise approach to quality when developing CeramicSpeed bearings. The result is that one can achieve the lowest possible friction with CeramicSpeed bearings and drivetrain products. Apart from that, CeramicSpeed bearings also offer a much longer lifetime.
