Norsgaard Jørgensen continues to show progress in Grand Prix Bruno Beghelli
Emma Norsgaard Jørgensen came within millimetres of a podium position, sprinting to fourth in Grand Prix Bruno Beghelli on Sunday.
The result is another indication of the 19-year-old’s talent as the team is currently developing her into one of the fastest finishers in the peloton.
“It was a good day for the team,” she said at the finish. “We worked well together even though we only started with 4 riders. We worked really hard in keeping the peloton together and going in every group. It was great team work. Yesterday it was my job to cover moves and it was nice to get payback from the girls today.”
The race came down to a reduced bunch sprint as Norsgaard Jørgensen explained. “We did a loop of 13 kilometres and there was a 1.6km climb on it. The peloton lost a lot of riders there but the last time up the climb everyone was riding for a sprint. Cille [Uttrup Ludwig] and Sophie [Wright] did a super leadout in the sprint.”
“It always sucks to finish fourth, off the podium, especially as it was really close between me and the rider who finished third, but that’s racing. I feel like I am getting better and better each day so that’s really good, I am definitely moving forward,” she concluded.
