Pilote Fortin puts the new C5 to the test in Belgian Waffle Ride
The Cervélo Belgian Waffle Ride took place on April 24 through San Diego. With a mix of dirt road and tarmac, the race has become a must ride event for those around the area.
Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team member Gabrielle Pilote Fortin flew over for the event and got the opportunity to ride the new Cervélo C5 on the testing terrain.
“The first section was full on dirt road, single track.” Pilote Fortin said exuberantly. “I started in the women’s wave then ended up riding with a bunch of men after riding to their group. It was meant to just be a ride but it was full on racing, it was so much fun.”
“The bike is amazing, especially on the off-road terrain,” the Canadian U23 road champion continued. “We first went to ride the bike the day before on the road and it felt like a very comfortable bike. I thought it was almost too comfortable because I am used to aggressive bikes for road racing but riding it on dirt roads the next day was just amazing. I was so glad I had that bike and was loving it so much. The disc brakes also make such a big difference.”
The Cervélo Belgian Waffle Ride this year was in its fifth edition and is known to provide riders with a memorable day on the bike. Over 1000 riders lined up and explored North Country San Diego.
