A description of the kind of rider you are:
Versatile rider that performs best on tough courses and tours.
What are your strengths on the bike?
I am somewhat of an all rounder on the bike, but my strength definitely lies in my climbing abilities.
What’s the most significant (good or bad) thing that has happened to you during your career?
There are many significant moments in my cycling career that have helped me to grow as a person and athlete at different times during my career, both good and bad. I have learnt so many valuable life lessons and even business lessons while pursuing a career as a professional cyclist, which I will be ever grateful for. It’s very hard to pick one, as each is significant for different reasons. From winning certain races/awards, crashing and injury, even some losses have been very significant in forming my career and character.
Who inspired you to start cycling?
My husband, Carl Pasio inspired me to start cycling while we were studying at Stellenbosch University. He was a professional triathlete at the time. I first tried my hand at triathlon, but I’m not a fast swimmer and after suffering multiple running injuries, I turned my focus to cycling. A decision I will never regret.
What interests do you have away from cycling?
I am a passionate promoter of women’s cycling. In my spare time I enjoy working on projects/ideas to help further promote the growth of our beautiful sport. Away from cycling I enjoy travelling and cooking wholesome/healthy meals. I also have a strong interest in business strategy and marketing, something I hope to pursue after my cycling career.
