What Were You Thinking?
What were you thinking? That's the question we posed to the riders while choosing select photos of them in action during the 2015 season.
Joelle Numainville: "I remember at La Course that it was one of the most crazy races ever. I couldn't believe it. So many people went down but I had a blast personally. It was THE best race in the rain that I had ever done!"
Lotta Lepisto: "This one is from the TT nationals. I was super happy and pleased about my win because I won by over a minute. It's always super exciting to have your national flag on your jersey. It was a big surprise for me because I felt a bit tired after the Aviva Women's Tour."
Joelle Numainville: "Ladies Tour of Norway. At that moment I was telling myself that everyone is as tired as you are. Dont give up! If you look at everyone's faces, you can see how tired we all were." Photo: @Velofocus
Lisa Klein: "This was Omloop Het Nieuwsblad. Our job was to keep Ashleigh safe in the front. I was new in the professional bunch but I just thought I have to have the confidence to do the job because we have an important leader on our team. I saw a young rider who I raced against at Junior Worlds and though if she can be there then I can also be in the front. I was just focussed on this little job."
Lotta Lepisto: "In Thüringen, that was stage 3b. The finish was hard. The last 500m was cobbles and a very hard steep climb. I was suffering quite lot on that stage because the timetrial in the morning was hard and I also had a flat tyre on that stage. But I survived to the last km and I was just suffering the last climb. I tried not to lose any seconds to Emma Johansson. I finished 7th and I lost a few seconds. I was really tired on the top and almost fell off the bike once I crossed the line."
Lisa Klein: "This was Boels Rental Ladies Tour. The time trial is a fight against myself. Before the start my legs weren't great. This was the fourth stage so they were hurting so much by then. I was relaxed before the start. I pushed myself as much and best as I could. I finished 39th which was respectable on the day."
Lotta Lepisto: "This was the Aviva Women's Tour. It was a crazy stage. It was raining a lot and I knew that the end is really technical. There was like 6 corners and I was passing like 5-10 girls in every corner. In the last corner I was in third position and I could hold it to the finish. It was really long straight but I was pushing myself to the limit because I needed a good result after the big crash on the first stage. After the finish I had few tears because I felt really happy that I could finish podium."
Carmen Small: "This photo is from the Giro Rosa. We didn't want to go too hard so we could save our legs for the next day of some hard climbing. The number one goal was to be support for Ashleigh and try to get her in good position into the climbs. That was my main focus the entire Giro. The TT was quite technical and Ashleigh followed me in the car so I wanted to make sure I rode technically good and take the right lines. Being on a new bike I was a bit nervous about this because I wasn't sure how it would handle, but the P3 is a great bike and it handled great."
