Another successful result in Vårgårda with podium finish
The Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team stormed to third place on Saturday’s Postnord Vårgårda West Sweden team time trial. It’s the third year in a row that the team successfully achieves a podium result in the race.
The course took on an undulated 42.5 kilometres route with time checks at 16.4km and 31.9km. Cervélo Bigla crossed the first check fifth. The speed increased after that as it set the third fastest time at the second check and maintained it to the finish.
“We sped up after the first check and set the best time when we crossed the line,” team manager, Thomas Campana said. “We couldn't make up the time we lost on the first part but the girls made a brave move in the second half. The team was so strong, I had goosebumps. To be consistent over the last three years on the podium in the most prestigious World Tour team time trial event plus two world championships medals shows that we know and understand this discipline. The team has the quality and they showed it again today, it was fantastic to watch.”
Racing in Sweden continues on Monday with the Postnord Vårgårda West Sweden road race. Lotta Lepistö is the defending the champion after winning the bunch sprint last year. The total distance of the road race is 141 kilometres.
