Bigla set to take on the Ardennes Classics
The three Ardennes Classics, Amstel Gold Race La Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège are the next events on the calendar for the team.
The first race, Amstel Gold Race, takes place on Easter this year. The almost 127km-long and hilly course commences in Maastricht and leads the peloton over no less than ten climbs, including the famed Cauberg. This notorious ascent has an average gradient of 6.5 per cent, and reaches up to 13 per cent i nsome sections. Afterwards, the riders will take on finishing circuit three times, before the reach the finish line fort he final time. Each lap contains three climbs, that oft he Cauberg, Geulhemmerberg and Bemelerberg.
Three days later, the team sets off for Belgium for the 22nd edition of Flèche Wallonne Féminine. This year’s almost 120km-long route contains seven climbs, including the famous Mur de Huy, which the riders will have to ascend twice. After around 70km in the saddle, they will have to take on two rounds of a finishing circuit, where the Côte d'Ereffe, den Côte de Cherave und die Mur de Huy await them twice. The race ultimately ends with the final ascent of the Mur de Huy.
The next race, Liège-Bastogne-Liège, comes four days later. This year’s edition contains more climbing than in previous years and stretches over almost 140km. The first of these ascents, the Côte de Wanne, comes after 55km of racing, followed several kilometres later by the Côte de Brunne. The race continuous along rather hilly parcours until the next three climbs, and the finishing town of Liège.
