Carmen Small makes long list for Rio Olympics
USA Cycling yesterday announced its roster for the long list for the 2016 Olympic games. Bigla Pro Cycling Team's Carmen Small was one of ten women included on the roster.
"You have to be selected on the long team to be considered for the final team," Small, who was delighted with the news, said. "It's basically the first real step to making the Olympic team. The criteria reads that the two time trial spots will be selected from the road team. i.e. the four people to face the road will be selected first and they will take the tt'ers from that."
Ask if this news has spurred her on as she's in preparation for the 2016 season, the former US national time trial champion said, "For sure this is very motivating. Bigla [Team Manager] Thomas Campana, my coach Cory Hart, and I have come up with a plan for success and to put me on the right track to make the team. Now it's up to me to put in the training and come up with the results."
"The Olympics are a very big goal this season and making the long team for sure boosts my motivation," she concluded.
