Elizabeth Banks third in GC at Festival Elsy Jacobs
The second and last stage of the Festival of Elsy Jacobs let the field around Ganich. The 111km long course featured three climbs and an undulating terrain before the riders could make their way to a slightly downhill finishing straight. After yesterday’s cold and wet weather, today the sun came out making the weather conditions more pleasant. At the start of the second half of the race three riders were able to escape and carve out a small advantage over the main field. Elizabeth Banks, currently in second position in the GC, was able to get into a small group that was chasing after the leading trio and they were eventually caught. With less than 40km the field split and a reduced peloton made their way towards the finish. Lizzy and Sophie Wright who collected valuable points on the climbs, were very active in the front group. On the last few kilometres a soloist rode in front of the main field and it came to a sprint from a small group. At the end of the three days of racing Lizzy was able to take out third place in the general classification.
