“I had to chase my dream alone, I had to fight for everything,” is what Doris Schweizer says when we ask her what the biggest challenge is she’s faced in her career. So, it should be no surprise when we hear her answer later on in this piece when we ask about her best qualities on the bike.
Being Swiss, Schweizer was an obvious choice for a Swiss based team. But that’s not why she joined the team. Team Manager, Thomas Campana says he believes she can be the surprise of the peloton.
The 25 year old joined the team from Astana BePink where she spent two seasons based in Italy. She went there to look for opportunities to further her career and was very grateful for the ones she received.

Schweizer left her previous team on her high where she was part of the line up that won the bronze medal at the World Championships team time trial in Ponferrada. The Bigla Pro Cycling Team has ambitions to be one of the best teams in the world in this discipline, thus one of the reasons her services were acquired.
The former Swiss National Champion says she wants a shot at winning the title again this year. She’s had success on home roads recently when she convincingly won the biggest women's race in Switzerland, Berner Rundfahrt. The win was an important one after what has been a difficult start to the season, fighting illness.
But a fighter is what she calls herself. She names her best qualities on the bike as going on the offensive, and never giving up, especially when times are tough. “This year my start to the season was a rollercoaster. Crashes, an illness and a lot of important decisions... The most important was to believe every minute in my strengths.”
