The Cervélo Bigla Pro Cycling Team once again showed the time trial discipline is part of the team’s DNA after placing three riders inside the top 10 in the WWT Emakumeen XXXI. Bira time trial today.

Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio finished fourth, followed by Belgian time trial champion Ann-Sophie Duyck eighth and Danish time trial champion Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, tenth. The results mean Moolman-Pasio maintains fourth overall while Uttrup Ludwig moves up with fifth.

“I’m really happy with my result,” Moolman-Pasio said. “It was the first long TT of the season. It was a world champs style course with almost 27 kilometres from point to point. Years ago this would not have suited me with the long straights and wind but as a lightweight rider, I can be proud of today. The first part of the course suited me with the shorter climbs but towards the end, the crosswinds threw me around a bit but I did my best to put my head down and keep pushing.”

Two stages remain in the Spanish race that has been elevated to World Tour status this year. Stage 3 will be raced over 114.5 kilometres featuring three categorised climbs.

“There’s lots of climbing to come and we are very motivated for the next two stages and it will make for some exciting racing,” Moolman-Pasio concluded.
