Tour of Chongming Island Preview and Line Up

The Bigla Pro Cycling Team travels to China this week for the first time this season. The team will be taking part in the 2.1 ranked three-day stage race Tour of Chongming Island (13 – 15 May) before turning its attention to the next important UCI World Cup race of the same name on 17 May.

American Shelley Olds has won the World Cup race in 2012 and last year finished third on every stage of the multi day event. Olds recently returned to competition after recovering from fractured ribs and showed good form by finishing second in Omloop van Borsele.

Last week she completed the Elsy Jacobs tour in Luxembourg. She’ll be supported by the team’s young group of riders that will be dedicated to her.

Shelley Olds

I am very excited to race in China. The races are well-organized and the atmosphere is always ‎super-fun with the spectators and the Chinese culture. I have had success in China, winning the world cup in 2012 and placing 2nd in the overall GC in the Tour of Chongming ‎Island last year. So, I look forward to racing.
Thomas Campana – General Manager

We’re focusing on Shelley going into these races. They usually end up in a sprint. The Spring classics group are having a rest now and we’re sending a leadout group to support Shelley because these races suit her. The young riders have prepare well in the Gracia tour and they are motivated to help her. She’s motivated to find her legs after her injury and she’s done well in this race before and is looking forward to it.
